Apple Butter – Gratitude Day 16

Posted on 16 November, 202016 November, 2020 by dilovelyadmin

Just this, right now.

apple-butter
Apple butter in progress.

A bunch of peeled apples, quite a bit of time cooking, a bit of immersion blending, some cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, and a bit of maple syrup made by friends of ours…

It makes the house smell amazing.

I’m so grateful for apples, especially local apples, and everything to do with them.

Can’t wait to put some on my toast in the morning.

Mmmm! I’m going to go get a load of “horse apples” from a local orchard farm tomorrow, so apple butter is on our agenda, too!

Yay! I would hate to think of it not happening because of those wild trees not panning out… (Wonder what happened there??)

I have never heard of apple butter. For me it looks like apple sauce or is that the same thing just a different name? It does look good though

They are very similar… I would say apple butter is basically applesauce but more concentrated – you keep cooking it until it is dark brown (mine was not quite finished in the picture), and then you put it on toast or bread or whatever. There is a proper recipe here: https://detoxinista.com/how-to-make-apple-butter/ It’s delicious!
