Dear Baby A,
You are now half a year old! You are growing so fast!
Just in the last two weeks, you have cut your first two teeth and learned to roll over, both ways. Here are some other things you have recently learned to do:
- wiggle while lying on your back, until you scootch yourself to where you want to be;
- sit up unassisted (still only for a few seconds, though);
- actually swallow baby cereal;
- chew the heck out of a practice veggie stick;
- perfect your Cabbage Patch Kid face;
- make repetitive syllables (I’m partial to “Ma-ma-ma-ma”, although “Va-va-va” is pretty cool too);
- play “Freeze Dance” with your big brother;
- grab stuff like a ninja (your glasses-grab is lightning-fast);
- grip stuff really hard (such as our fingers, or, less fortunately, our neck fat);
- charm the socks off pretty much anyone with your grins. Actually you’ve been doing that since about six weeks old, but still. And funnily enough, you can take your own socks off in record time too, without using your hands.
This past week, you’ve been a bit sick – runny nose, congestion, and a cough. Last weekend was Easter, during which we visited with all six grandparents and countless other relatives and friends, and despite being under the weather, you were super-sweet and smiley, as usual. You’re just a peach of a baby.
I feel so lucky to wake up beside you every morning. You’ll reach over as you wake up, to touch my arm, and when you look at me and smile, your beauty is so bright and wonderful in my eyes… as your brother would say, I can’t hold my heart.
I love you so much, baby girl. You light up all of our lives.
{I admit it, you actually turned six months old last Saturday. Now that there are two of you in the house, I’ve decided to forgive myself for not posting on the actual day – especially on crazy holiday weekends. Doesn’t mean you’re any less awesome.}

Aw, that hat picture from tonight is even more bedonkly cute up close! Awww. She was just all starey when I came in wearing it. I think she’s like, Wait, it’s my person again! The one in the blue hat! No, this time it’s the same person but in a DIFFERENT hat! And she’s even moderately excited when all I have is a face. And a neck. This afternoon she got a really good hold of my neck fat. NO ONE ELSE gets to do that. EVER.
Cabbage-patch-face pic = SO BEDONK.
Is that sitting-up-on-blue-chair-cushion the one I took the other day? I think she fell off after about .5 seconds, but it was cute. Tonight in Ev’s room she was almost pulling herself up from reclining. I was sort of pie-facing her, and then one time I pushed her and she didn’t even go down. Way to stay sitting, A!
Uncle Ben looks cute, too.
Yeah. So cute I don’t know what to do! Thanks for the hat/smile photo-op.
I think you might’ve taken that one on the cushion – I have a whole bunch of them, so she was definitely practicing! And she does have some good abs on her, for a baby.
Totally – GREAT picture of our bro!
Happy six months Arwen <3 xoxo
<3 xoxo !
What a cutie pie!!! I have to come see her soon to smush her (and return your things!!). I was feeling sicky this week so didn’t try to schedule anything. Perhaps next week! Outfit in picture number one is too cute for words.
Looking forward to a visit! I hope you’re feeling better right away. And I love that outfit too – if only she weren’t outgrowing things so fast!
Awww! Happy 6 months, sweet baby A! I love that photo with Uncle Ben, and the dead-on cabbage patch impression (rosy cheeks!) and that bouncy swing contraption in the video looks SO FUN (I want to play freeze dance!). Hope that congestion clears up.
Cousin Q, did you never have a jolly jumper? We didn’t either, but they definitely existed back in the day. Hey… wanna play freeze dance at your wedding???
i love the dinosaur motif in the rocket ship – to heck with linear time, sez i!
also, i agree: “Outfit in picture number one is too cute for words.”
she’s the smiliest! what a perfectly GRAND niece!
all so wonderful, but i’m not sure i’m on board with 6 whole months having passed since she arrove in dis world.
Ha ha, I didn’t notice the “motif” or the anachronism… but that’s rather cool! That awesome outfit comes from Ivy.
And yes, I agree with you – 6 months already is, well, shocking and too fast.
Happy 6 months Baby A! I hope I get to meet you before you’re a little kid instead of a baby!
Me too!!!
This is TERRIFIC. I love you, Arwen! You have truly made our lives funner and more beautiful just by being in them, and by the joy you have brought your parents and brother. You’re my favourite baby.
And speaking of brothers, what UP! That is one young-and-studly-looking uncle! ;O
A says: Ba-ba-ba-baba. She loves you too.
