Oops, I meant to include this lovely blog in my Hypes yesterday. Sean found it and sent it to me, and it made me smile on an evening I wasn’t expecting to have any more smiles.

Just write. See what happens.

Here’s something one learns amongst groups of Quakers: sit in a circle and spill your hypes and gripes (i.e. what are you happy and not happy about today?). It’ll do you good.
Gripes this week:

Here are more photos from yesterday – I got photo-happy all of a sudden.
Here’s E eating carrots in the kitchen. They took a realllly long time (he’s only got eight teeth). Continued…

I probably won’t be doing Baby Bits much longer… once E walks, he’s a toddler, right? Although “Toddler Bits” doesn’t have the same ring. I’ll have to think of something cooler.
Anyway…
Here are some photos from this week.
We had a visit with a friend (L) on Wednesday. Two little blue-eyed blondies sittin’ in a pool. It was great. And what a contrast! Continued…

The other day, I was in a funk. I’d had some news from my school board that made me feel frustrated and undervalued, and once I felt like that, every other little thing made me feel worse. E was in a cranky mood and doing his whiny cry for no reason all the time, and I was tired of listening to it, tired of worrying about money, of never making headway on my gigantic to-do list, of my house always being a mess even right after I clean up, of food underfoot thrown on the floor by my darling son… tired of owning that onus. (Props to all the single parents out there, for the ump-hundredth time – whew.)
Luckily, it was temporary. I also tire of feeling bad about feeling bad, knowing that my life is great and I have absolutely no reason to complain – so it’s a relief when these funks lift.
I decided to create a new blog list of my Top 10 Pick-Me-Ups, so that when any of us is in a bad way, we can take our pick of moments to put some joy and faith back in our lives on Earth. Just reminders, really, of the awesomeness that is present and possible.
1. Splashin’ in a Washbasin – I’ve already mentioned that this is key in kicking a bad mood. I can’t deny that my family, while sometimes the source of my frustration, is also my best pick-me-up.
2. Chillout Song – Read a story that will truly warm your heart, and let Ze reassure you. It’s gonna be all right. Just breathe.

I know you all can count. I’m just making the transition between referring to my child’s age in months and in years. I always smile to myself when parents refer to their kids’ ages in months when they’re multiple years old – since your average person doesn’t think in those terms. I figure it still makes sense up to 18 months, and then most people start calculating in their heads.
Anyway! Back to the subject at hand: my awesome son.
Here are some photos – actually taken about a month ago, but they demonstrate how huge he is getting. And honestly, the photos we’ve got from this month… a lot of them are blurry. He’s a much faster mover these days.

I had something else I was planning to write about today, but then there’s this. (Sean found it, being the primary internet troller of the household.) It’s simply too bloggable to wait, especially on the heels of that last video.
a) Doubt? Inhibitions? Ignorance??? Chemicals fix those!!!!!!! Why didn’t we think of this before?? Women need not have any problems after all! Continued…

Here’s a little something I love. Folks… it’s the Drive-In Intermission!
I can’t explain why I love it, since it’s quite awful… but I do. From the creepy happy “Yum yum” faces, to the attempts to make fast food sound nourishing, to the censorious “love bug” comment (you’d think this warning is really too late by intermission, no?), to the worst leprechaun ever, to outrageous claims about random things, to blatant religious coercion – but especially the animated circus snacks! Even those untalented soft drinks who think tapping their straws together is entertaining for some reason.
They played this reel at the Midland Drive-In at least through the ’90s, where we used to go for “staff night out” at Camp, which automatically imbues it with awesomeness… Then here in Guelph at the Mustang, they played it just the year before last – and I FLIPPED OUT! Just like that wiener!!! Continued…
